ABS portfolio tasting features 533 wines from 13 countries
Retailers can taste 533 wines from 73 different producers at the ABS portfolio tasting in London on Wednesday, September 11.
It tales place takes place at One Great George Street in Westminster from 10.30am to 6pm and it brings all of the agency’s growers together under one roof.
Thirteen different countries will be represented and 43 growers have flown in especially for the event.
A number of Australian producers have made the journey, including The Hedonist winemaker Walter Clappis, cool-climate expert Andrew Harris from Tamar Ridge in Tasmania, and some of the Australia’s Best kept Secrets crew, such as Troy Jones from Payten & Jones and Rory Lane from The Story.
South Africa has a strong representation, with sparkling specialist Jacques Bruwer of Bon Courage joining the tasting, along with Gary & Kathy Jordan from Jordan Estate, the new winemaker at Zevenwacht, Hagen Viljoen, and David Finlayson of Edgebaston Wines. It is also a first time visit to the UK for Neil Bruwer, recently appointed chief winemaker at Cape Chamonix.
The harvest is underway in Europe, but many producers are flying in just for the day, including Lyne Marchive from Domaine des Malandes, Romain Montagnac from Maison Montagnac and Dominque Fouin from Château Fontesteau.
Focus tables will offer guests the opportunity to taste the newly released 2018 Grosses Gewächs Rieslings from DrLoosen, Dönnhoff and Leitz, alongside the 2017 Pinot Noirs from Fürst, Stodden and Schnaitmann.
