Drinkaware and Heineken launch walking football programme
Drinkaware and Heineken UK have partnered with the Huddersfield Town Foundation to set up a walking football programme with the aim of promoting “healthier lifestyles” and raising awareness about alcohol consumption.
The 12-month programme will begin on November 25, and will be open to adult residents of Huddersfield and Kirklees at no cost. Aimed at those who wish to play football at a slower pace, participants will receive information about alcohol throughout the year.
The initiative follows a similar programme run by Drinkaware and Derby County Community Trust which saw some participants report lifestyle changes such as reduced alcohol consumption.
James Crampton, director of corporate affairs at Heineken UK, said the company is “delighted” to be participating in the programme, adding: “We are steadfast in our commitment to encouraging moderate consumption as part of a healthy lifestyle.
“It is our hope that this partnership model becomes a template for helping communities get more active while also providing education around alcohol; one which sports clubs are able to replicate up and down the country.”
